TOP COP: Uvalde Police Stopped Officer From Saving His Wife

(TeaParty.org Exclusive) – Being a police officer is a really hard, thankless job, especially these days as the radical left constantly tries to make you the enemy of the public — when doing so benefits their political agenda — and while we support law enforcement for all of the hard work and sacrifices they make to keep us safe on a daily basis, the police response to happened in Uvalde, Texas is absolutely appalling.

To further illustrate just how much of a failure this response was, the top Texas-law enforcement official recently testified at a hearing concerning the officer husband of slain teacher Eva Mireles and how he attempted to save his wife’s life, but was stopped by school-district police officers at the scene.

This whole mess just gets worse and worse for the police department involved with the Robb Elementary School shooting.

According to WND, “Texas Department of Public Safety Director Col. Steven McCraw told state senators Tuesday that Mireles’ husband, Ruben Ruiz – a police officer for the school district – was on the scene after the gunman entered the Robb Elementary School on May 24 and opened fire, KSAT-TV in San Antonio reported.”

“McCraw said Mireles, a fourth-grade teacher, had called Ruiz and told him ‘she had been shot and was dying,'” the report continued.

“And what happened to him, is he tried to move forward into the hallway,” McCraw recounted during his testimony.

“He was detained and they took his gun away from him and escorted him off the scene,” he said.

And all of this was done while the department that responded to the shooting did nothing to bring the tragedy to an end and save the lives of those inside the building. Shameful. Truly shameful.

During his testimony during the hearing before the special Texas Senate committee, McCraw went on to say there was “compelling evidence that the law enforcement response to the attack at Robb Elementary was an abject failure and antithetical to everything we’ve learned over the last two decades since the Columbine massacre.”

“Three minutes after the suspect entered the west building, there was a sufficient number of armed officers wearing body armor to isolate, distract, and neutralize the subject,” he stated in his testimony.

McCraw then stated that the “only thing stopping a hallway of dedicated officers from entering Room 111, and 112, was the on-scene commander,” Uvalde school district police chief Peter Arredondo, “who decided to place the lives of officers before the lives of children.”

That right there, the last statement, is a harsh rebuke of the commander in charge of the situation and reveals a troubling ideological belief on behalf of the man who ran the department.

Every good cop, and God knows there are plenty of them around, dedicates himself to protecting the weak and the innocent from acts of evil like what happened in Uvalde. Most officers would willingly risk their lives to save children. What happened in Uvalde is not the norm for law enforcement officers, nor should it be viewed as such.

“However, McCraw’s DPS was named in a lawsuit Wednesday filed by Democratic state Sen. Roland Gutierrez, who represents Uvalde, seeking government records regarding the response to the shooting,” WND reported.

“Gutierrez alleges DPS officials as well as Uvalde police have given ‘provably false’ misstatements and misinformation surrounding the law enforcement response to the school shooting,” WND stated.

“In the wake of the senseless tragedy, the people of Uvalde and Texas have demanded answers from their government. To date, they have been met with lies, misstatements, and shifts of blame,” Gutierrez goes on to say in the suit.

“In an interview Wednesday with Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum, Gutierrez noted McCraw initially claimed a teacher propped open a door that allowed the shooter to get inside the building. That turned out to be not true,” WND’s report continued.

Gutierrez went on to say that when he cross-examined McCraw on Tuesday, he was “able to prove that there were 91 DPS officers at the scene.”

He then pointed out that when he spoke with a local newspaper last week, stating there were 13 of those officers in the school hallway, the DPS then accused him of lying.

“By day’s end, they walked that back, and yesterday, proved that there were 12 of them in the hallway,” Gutierrez stated during his interview with MacCallum.

The senator then stated that the DPS officers went inside for a few moments and then left, going on to add that they were there “at the direction of no one, including Pete Arredondo.”

The state senator then pondered whether or not Arredondo was actually the incident commander.

“And the answers to other questions are unknown, Gutierrez said, because ‘we are getting half-truths, innuendo and snippets of body cam footage that [McCraw] chooses to give,'” WND’s report concluded.

  1. It seems with the apparent and revealed incompetence of police leadership, who made the decisions for the tragedies at schools , they seem to want the carnage to take place for political benefit!
